Father of six crushed by Bobcat at city Water Department | SouthCoastToday.com: NEW BEDFORD — A city mechanic and father of six, including a 4-month-old boy, died Friday after being pinned between the bucket and cab of a Bobcat he was repairing at the Water Department on Shawmut Avenue.Fifty-five-year-old Carlos Tabares was working alone on the engine of the machine when the hydraulic lift failed, striking him in the back and crushing him against the cab, said Ronald Labelle, the city's commissioner of public infrastructure.
