Environmental health inspectors found a dead mouse under a takeaway's pizza oven and droppings throughout the building.
Giardino, in Church Gate, Leicester, was closed immediately following the routine inspection on Thursday.
Manager Mohammad Hussain was prosecuted at Leicester Magistrates' Court on Monday.
During the hearing, Leicester City Council environmental health officer Susan Clements told the court she found a "large amount" of mouse droppings throughout the premises, including areas where food was prepared.
