Wisconsin factory fire puts 300 out of work | WGN-TV: Three hundred people are out of work after a massive 8-alarm factory fire in Burlington, Wisconsin.

The Echo Lake Farms Produce Company “is one of the largest employers of the city,” said Mayor Bob Miller. The manufacturing plant went up in flames around 6 p.m. Wednesday night.

Firefighters from 88 departments in Wisconsin and Northern Illinois battled the blaze. They had it under control by noon Thursday and were mopping up hot spots.

“I have not seen a fire with this impact,” added Burlington Fire Chief Richard “Dick” Lodle.
