Mississauga Article: Nurse fired after senior trapped in elevator: One nurse has been fired and "several" others suspended after an 87-year-old woman was trapped in a Malton nursing home elevator for 29 hours in late December.
The Canadian Union of Public Employees branch 966 says it is contesting disciplinary measures leveled against the employees of Malton Village long-term care facility.
The union offered up very few details regarding disciplinary action because of employee privacy, but said the Region of Peel lacked clear policies that could have prevented the incident.
