STOMP - Singapore Seen - Taiwanese families and doctors bet on when cancer patients will die: Various gambling rings on the stretch of Shijia East Road -- dubbed 'Death Gambling Street' -- in Taichung City, Taiwan bet on when cancer patients will die, with even the patients' families and doctors taking part.

The gambling dens operate under the guise of 'social organisations', with bets running up to NT$100 million (S$4.21 million).

A membership fee of NT$2,000 (around S$84.20) is required to participate.
