Mitech Employee Fired For Writing-off Company Car | Stuff.co.nz: A man who claimed he was unfairly dismissed after writing-off a company car has been ordered to pay costs to his former employer.
Philip Murphy was driving a company vehicle belonging to Mitech Limited, on April 15, 2011, when he was involved in a nose-to-tail accident on the Auckland motorway.
Murphy, who had been employed by the technology company for almost four years, suffered a mild concussion in the accident and was ordered not to drive for three months by a neurologist.
However, he claimed Mitech prevented his early return to work because of concerns they had about his "aggressive driving" and dismissed him without fair reason.
