Contractor was killed outside the Loveridge Preparation Plant

FAIRVIEW, W.Va. -- A worker for a surface-drilling contractor was killed outside the Loveridge Preparation Plant in Marion County, a CONSOL Energy spokeswoman told the Gazette.

State and federal agencies have been notified and are expected Tuesday on site at the accident's location.

Marion County 911 dispatchers had said a man was trapped under an 18,000-pound machine at the Loveridge Mine in Fairview.
