Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service - Man burns hand after suffering two chip pan fires within a fortnight: A MAN has been taken to hospital suffering from burns after suffering a chip pan fire in his home - for the second time in a fortnight.
Both crews from Oldham Fire Station were called to Flemming Place, Werneth, at 1.15am on Friday, December 21.
Firefighters discovered that a fire had started with a chip pan in a bungalow.
A 37-year-old man tried to tackle the fire by moving the chip pan off the hob and burned his hand while doing it.
The fire was out by the time the crews arrived and the man was being given first aid by paramedics.
Firefighters discovered signs of there had been a fire of a similar nature - believed to have been about two weeks earlier and also involved a chip pan - but Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service had not previously been informed of the incident.
The man was taken to Royal Oldham Hospital and later transferred to Wythenshawe Hospital.
