Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service - Crews tackle blaze at Ashton takeaway: GREATER Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) crews managed to save a family's belongings after a fire ripped through a flat above a takeaway in Ashton.

Four fire engines from Ashton and Stalybridge fire stations and an aerial platform from Oldham were called to the property in Stockport Road shortly before 9am on Monday, December 24.

When crews arrived they found the ground and first floors of a mid-terraced shop property well alight.
