City of Ukiah may drop ambulances in two months
The possibility of the City of Ukiah ending ambulance services will again be discussed at the Ukiah City Council meeting tonight, and this time Public Safety Director Chris Dewey is asking to end the program in two months.
According to the staff report prepared for tonight's meeting, Dewey is requesting permission to give Coast Valley (Emergency Medical Services), which oversees ambulance services for Mendocino and Sonoma counties, 60-day notice that it intends to "stop providing Primary 911 (Advanced Life Support) Ambulance Services."
In October, the City Council had many questions for Dewey during a workshop on his proposal to get out of the ambulance business.
