2012 - 09/06/2012 - US Labor Department's OSHA notifies Navy's Fleet Readiness Center Southwest about employees' exposure to toxic materials at Coronado, Calif., facility: SAN DIEGO – The U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration has issued notices to the Fleet Readiness Center Southwest regarding violations of workplace health and safety standards at its facility in Coronado that exposed workers to extremely toxic materials such as lead, cadmium and beryllium.
Fleet Readiness Center Southwest is an agency of the U.S. Navy and has a workforce of about 10,000 employees nationwide. The Coronado aircraft maintenance facility employs approximately 500 workers.
